Hi! I’m Andrea Gomez, I’m Colombian, I live in The Netherlands and creativity is the way I find my way through life.
Back in 2014, my life turned around when I moved continents to live with my boyfriend. I thought everything was going to be great; after all, I had been in love with this man for 2 years while I was kept in the “friend zone”.
But it was freaking hard.
My anxiety got really bad, I felt out of control, I started having panic attacks and I couldn’t understand what was going on. I felt disorientated and I had no words to express myself. Everything looked amazing from the outside, but I was crumbling.
One day, after crying the whole morning, a question popped into my mind: What could I do that comes easily to me?
“Paint!”. It was almost an immediate answer.
I bought paints, brushes, and canvas and I started.
Within a half an hour I felt a relief that I hadn’t felt in months.
So I spent time doing just that. Nothing more, but painting.
I realized how that had been always a part of me. How I had chosen to be a designer because I wanted a creative career. How I had radically decided to not work as a designer because after University I felt it was sucking my soul. How I decided to go to Hawaii and get certified by Doreen Virtue and work with angels, energy healing, crystals and flower essences.
I had been always creating, in one way or another, and now the paths I’ve pursued have weaved together into what I love doing the most: Art & Be of service.
I’m on a mission to help us reawaken to the power of our creativity. I firmly believe that the reason why we struggle so much with anxiety, stress, restlessness, depression, rage and apathy is because there is an unused creativity imploding within us. Our art is our medicine, so if we want to find a relief to our pain we need to connect back to that power.
Creativity can be our biggest teacher, guide, nurturer, lover, friend, and therapist. And when we tap into its power and we allow it to show us the way, we feel more alive than ever before.
A myth I want to bust for you from the get-go is that you don’t need to be an artist, have an education on it, or make a living with it, for creativity to be part of your life. No requirements other than curiosity and a desire to explore what treasures are dug deeper within you.
Gardening! I used to say I was bad with plants, but not anymore. I’m growing vegetables and it’s so fulfilling.
